This charming allemande and trio gives students the opportunity to develop several techniques that will be useful to them in more advanced music. The most salient of these is the singing, cello-like melody in the left hand of the trio, which requires students to move a step beyond the more straightforward scales in earlier literature. Measures nine through eleven feature two additional technical elements: rocking octaves in the left hand and ascending intervals in the right hand that anticipate later study of triads and inversions.
