Students may feel a twinge of sadness while playing “A Sad Memory.” In C minor, the piece has a despondent mood. Though the left hand is quite repetitive, students with small hands may have difficulty successfully executing the legato articulation. Detailed pedaling included by Pearce can help with this, however. The occasional tempo change is important for creating the correct character.
