Georg Friedrich Handel

The air is a song-like variant of the aria and therefore features a singable melody in the right hand with left-hand accompaniment. The left hand often imitates the melody line, as in measures two and four, and this exchange can be thought of as a dialogue between the hands. Articulation is something to watch out for, particularly in scalar passages. In addition, students should be aware of the ornaments in the melody and take care to place them correctly above the accompaniment.
